Bringing
on the Fun at The Bulletin's
Family
Fun Zone - Event Organizing
When
you're organizing a cakewalk, it pays to hire a professional. Knowing
this, The Bulletin asked Grassroots PR to organize the Family Fun
Zone at the 2004 Deschutes County Fair. In addition to planning
sack races, pie-eating contests and diaper derbies for this five-day
event, GPR lined up public figures to serve as targets for a Pie-in-the-Face
drawing. Scores of children entered hula hoop contests and galloped
in stick-horse barrel races, while hundreds of spectators cheered
on jalapeno eaters, wife carriers and husband hollerers. More than
30 contestants entered the look-alike contest, and apple-bobbing
drew an endless stream of overheated children for nearly an hour.
Grassroots PR's organizing efforts drew kudos from nearby vendors,
Fair officials and local families.
